HEALTH EDUCATION IN CALIFORNIA

 
California Department of Education 健康 Education Framework 
健康教育框架与 2008年加州健康教育内容标准, which support the 发展 of knowledge, 技能, and attitudes in eight overarching standards: (1) essential health concepts; (2) analyzing health influences; (3) accessing valid health information; (4) interpersonal communication; (5) decision making; (6) goal setting; (7) practicing health-enhancing behaviors; and (8) health promotion in six content areas of health education: nutrition and physical activity; growth, 发展, and sexual health; injury prevention and safety; alcohol, 烟草, and other drugs; mental, 情感, and 社会 health; and personal and community health in the 2008 健康 Education Content Standards.
 
The California Department of Education (CDE), Instructional Quality Commission (IQC), and State Board of Education (SBE) recently revised the 健康 Education 课程 Framework for California Public Schools, 过渡幼儿园至十二年级(健康教育框架), which was adopted by the SBE in May 2019. California 健康y Youth Act
Enacted January 1, 2016, The California 健康y Youth Act (CHYA) integrates the instruction of 全面的 sexual health education and HIV prevention education.   • To provide pupils with the knowledge and 技能 necessary to protect their sexual and reproductive health from HIV and other sexually transmitted infections and from unintended pregnancy;
  • To provide pupils with the knowledge and 技能 they need to develop healthy attitudes concerning adolescent growth and 发展, 身体形象, 性别, 性取向, 的关系, 婚姻, 和家人;

State law defines 全面的 sexual health education as “education regarding human 发展 and sexuality, including education on pregnancy, 避孕, 性传播感染”(EC§51931[b]). HIV prevention education is defined as “instruction on the nature of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and AIDS, methods of transmission, strategies to reduce the risk of HIV infection, 与艾滋病毒和艾滋病有关的社会和公共卫生问题”(EC§51931[d])。.

Middle School 健康
Middle School 健康 addresses Comprehensive Sexual 健康 and HIV/AIDS Prevention Education. 这些单元在每年春季的中学科学课程中教授. 这种做法符合《明升平台》(CHYA)的规定, which requires that Comprehensive Sexual 健康 and HIV/AID Prevention Education be taught at least once in middle school and once in high school. Parent Notification of COMPREHENSIVE SEXUAL HEALTH AND HIV/AIDS PREVENTION EDUCATION Content 

School districts may notify parents/guardians at the beginning of the school year or at least 14 days prior to instruction. Districts shall allow parents to excuse their child from the 全面的 sexual health education and HIV prevention instruction upon receiving a signed, 写请求, using a passive consent or "opt-out" policy for the state-required 全面的 sexual health education and HIV prevention instruction.
